You start by breaking your day, laying out all the things you need to have a 50-50 chance of coming home a winner.
The obvious place to start with is your Bankroll, the money you will take to the casino. Since we are talking about the slots, we'll be talking to people who will allocate a smaller amount of money to their play.
In the matter of playing the table games, such as Craps, Blackjack, Roulette and Baccarat, a larger Bankroll is required. That's because the table minimums are higher.
In these cases, you should have 30 times the amount of the table minimum. That means that on a $5 Blackjack table you would need $150 per table and a minimum of 3 tables for a $450 Bankroll.
Craps has a variation approach. For the game you should have 10 times the amount of your initial bet. So if you played $5 Pass Line with $5 odds and placed the six and eight for $6 each, your lay-out would be $22. You should have $220 for that table or Session, again with a minimum of 3 tables, or a Bankroll of $600.
You can see that each table has its own set of rules toward the amount of money required, plus a logical way of distributing that Bankroll.
The reason you set amounts of money for each table, or in the case of Slots, for each machine, is to avoid losing all of your Bankroll at any one cold table or Slot Machine.
Just understand that every single move you make will be predetermined ahead of time and no deviation allowed.
But it will begin with your Bankroll and that is the amount of money that you yourself set aside to gamble with on that particular day.
How much is a Slots Bankroll? Let's list some figure and you pick the amount that fits your budget.
1. $100 2. $200 3. $300 4. $500 5. $600 6. $1,000 7. $1,500 8. $1,800
Somewhere in that list is an amount that zeros in on your situation, and the amount of your Bankroll automatically tells you the value of the machine you can play.
Lotta Cash has a lot of cash in her kick so her starting Bankroll is $1,500 and she had a wide variety of machines to play at.
Her options range from the 25 cent Slots all they way through 50 cent, $1.00 and $5.00 Slots. That's because she has the staying power of a large Bankroll.
Lee Tilshort is a little short on cash and his Bankroll for the day is $100. There is no reason for Lee Tilshort to feel embarrassed because of his lack of funds but it is imperative that he realize that his short Bankroll restricts him to play only at the 5 cent or 25 cent machines.
As usual, the human element of greed enters into most people in the casino and Lee Tilshort is now upset because he wants to play at the dollar machines and take a shot at winning $10,000.
Mistake #1. His Bankroll has laready signaled him that he is no higher than a quarter player. Period!
Many players with a $100 Bankroll are having problems accepting this restriction, but that's the way the Ding Dongs.
You wanna play at higher machines, bring more money. If you can't bring more money, play where your Bankroll will afford you to. This will allow you to compete sensibly, while you wait for a streak to materialize.
Lotta Cash has the bread to last a long time at the machines. It doesn't mean she's gonna risk her whole Bankroll, but at least she can lose $50 and not feel the heat.
If Lee Tilshort goes to a dollar machine and drops $40, he starts sweating beads of despair because he has five more hours to kill in the casino and only a handful of money left to do battle.
Bankroll, the amount of money you take to the casino. It's the first step on your journey. It requires you to set aside a certain amount of money per Session and Demands that you stay within those parameters.
